Winemaker Spotlight: Christian Voeux of Domaine de l’Amauve
A celebrated oenologist, Christian Voeux has been involved in the wine making process in France for almost 40 years. For 24 of those years he held the position of Master of the Cellar at Chateau Mont-Redon in Chateauneuf du Pape, has been responsible for the winemaking at Chateau la Nerthe, Domaine la Renjarde, and Prieure de Montezargues. In 2005 Christian took over his family’s vineyard in Seguret, bottling the very first vintage for the Domaine de l’Amauve in 2006.
For many years, the Domaine de l’Amauve was run by is parents, Aline & Louis Voeux. Interestingly, for generations, the 11 hectare Domaine was owned by two Provençal families, which were united upon the marriage of Aline & Louis in 1952. The origin of the name of the property is from the mauve flower that can be found in great abundance in the vineyard in the springtime, giving off a delicate floral scent and cheering up the landscape with their bright colours.
Christian, along with his wife Monique and son Nicolas, is the first to turn the grapes of the Domaine into wine on the property–previously, the grapes grown by Aline & Louis were sold to cooperatives and in markets in Seguret. A passionate oenologist, Christian is present throughout the wine-making process to ensure that each vintage is of the greatest quality. Minimal intervention is exercised in order to preserve the exquisite flavours and qualities of the wines that patrons have grown to love from the area. All of the grapes are harvested and processed by hand by Voeux and a small team of experienced winemakers to ensure only the best grapes are used.
The wines produced are mainly red and white wines from the appellations “Cotes du Rhone Villages Seguret”; since 2008, they’ve also been producing a small cuvee from the IGP Vin de Pays de Vaucluse. All of their vintages are made in small tanks; some are oak-aged for up to 12 months in order to refine the flavours and lend complexity to the wine, while others are aged in bottles.
Every bottle of wine that comes out of the Domaine de l’Amauve has been carefully crafted in the old style to produce wines of exceptional balance, flavour, and maturity. Christian Voeux is a perfect representation of our belief that
Roots Matter, and we are happy to support his hard work and dedication by distributing the wines of Domaine de l’Amauve at
restaurants and

Christian will be attending two events in Alberta this month–the first in
