Tenimenti Rossi Cairo – La Raia

In 2003, Giorgio Rossi Cairo and his family acquired the farms of La Raia, within the gentle hills of Gavi, in southern Piedmont. His children suggested engaging in the biodynamic – organic approach, an approach coherent with Giorgio’s desire of creating a balanced and harmonious place in all its components: agricultural and landscape, but also architectural, social and cultural.

The estate extends over 180 hectares, including 48 of vineyards, 60 of fields and the remaining are pastures, chestnut trees, elderflower and acacia woodlands protecting numerous species of wild animals. The family’s dedication from the beginning was to recover and enhance the original ecosystem through a broad intervention project, inspired by the biodynamic principles.

La Raia Gavi Riserva DOCG · Profile

The Cortese vines for the Riserva are cultivated on the estate’s La Madonnina vineyard with an ideal south-east exposure. The grapes are picked a little later ad the end of September to get a richer, rounder taste profile. The resulting wine has an inviting golden-yellow colour. The aroma is characterized by ripe fruit and a subtle touch of honey. The palate is dry yet harmonious with pleasant savoury undertones.
