Tenimenti Rossi Cairo

Italy

In 2003, the Rossi Cairo family purchased the first plots of land of a farm in the Gavi region, La Raia. The older children, Caterina and Piero, suggested that they should choose the biodynamic method, to go back to the origins of this territory where the native Cortese grape variety has been developed for centuries. Starting with that insight, La Raia was created, as it exists today: a Demeter-certified biodynamic farm, over 180 hectares of vineyards, pastures, arable land and chestnut woods inhabited by wild animals. Its biodynamic Gavi and Barbera have become very popular, meeting with increasing acclaim from consumers and critics, both in Italy and abroad.

The family has become shareholders in EcorNaturaSì, the most important Italian enterprise for the production and distribution of organic and biodynamic products, and in January 2015 they purchased Tenuta Cucco with its Cerrati and Vigna Cucco crus. This is an exciting new phase of the project, in which they are introducing organic methods in the vineyards and wine cellars at Tenuta Cucco as well.
