Terroirs Originels – Château de Javernand

Château de Javernand has been owned by the Fourneau family since 1917 when great-grandfather Auguste fell in love and under the spell of the beautiful landscape around the village Chiroubles. Ideally situated on a high hillside, the Château and vineyards offer amazing views of the village and the valley of the Saône river.Today, representing the fifth generation, Arthur Fourneau and his cousin Mathilde operate the estate with the support of Mathilde’s husband, Pierre Prost, who added his own family vineyards around Mâcon to winery.

Arthur and Pierre work tirelessly in up dating and adding more vineyards with the aim to eventually farm all the land organically. In the cellar there is mindful mix of history, tradition, and modern winemaking techniques. The result of the well maintained vineyards and careful cellar techniques are wines of freshness, elegance, and complexity.
