Pla Cazada

Pla Cazada is a joint venture of two friends and winemakers, Jürgen Wagner of Celler de Capcanes in Montsant, and José Domeco of Bodegas Domeco de Jarauta and his vineyards in Rioja.

The grapes – 95% Tempranillo and 5% Graciano – are sourced exclusively from José’s vineyards in Rioja. The aim of this project is to craft a unique Rioja wine, approachable, and demonstrating the characteristics of terroir. The wine is then vinified in José’s family winery.

The idea for this wine came to Jürgen during his many hikes through the region. During these hikes, Jürgen often finds discarded metal signs (“Placa”) that indicate the boundaries of specific hunting (“Caza”) areas.
