Puglia has a long and rich viticultural history, and today wine has increased its importance for the region and indeed for all of Italy. The best grapes of the region grow in Salento, the peninsula that forms the heel of the Italian boot, where climate, terroir, the specially selected grape varieties, and the training system of the vines work together to produce rich, flavourful wines that still maintain an elegant balance.

The growers that form the Cooperativo Cantolio control about 800 ha of vineyards. The cooperative was founded in the early 1960’s and has now developed into one of the regions most important producers. Located between the Adriatic and Ionian Seas (“tra i due mari”), the vineyards benefit from the ideal climatic conditions to produce outstanding Primitivo and Negroamaro wines.
